Peace
Summer 2017
"Peace, is a two sided coin, a life long struggle and a sense of contentment all at the same time. It represents to me that constant anticipated moment of sudden chaos that makes a moment of peace so very delectable. The face is actually a cast of my own, a holy mask made of gold. "

The GrandFather Tree
Collaborative Installation with Carey Morton at the Taylors Mill
The Grandfather Tree was a collaborative effort between Allison and sculptor Carey Morton for the Rusted Palace Grand Art and Music Show on April 4th 2014. The sculpture spanned over 15 ft of wall and was over 10 ft high. It was built directly in the Taylors Mill, the same location as Allison's original Studio it was uninstalled later that year. The piece was fabricated using branches from around the mill, and the face itself was constructed by Allison from clay. The piece was later rebuild and reinstalled by Allison and it now resides permanently at the Carolina Bauernhaus in the Village of West Greenville, with special thanks to Jeff Kielmeyer.
"The face was modeled after the landlord of the mill, Kenneth Walker, who has been so gracious in accommodating the artists and other tenants of the mill. I got the original idea for this sculpture when I was riding through the Virginia country side; there were countless beautiful rolling hills and every now and then all of the sudden there would be a lone giant tree. To me that tree symbolizes wisdom and legacy, it is a marker for the strength and beauty of that land. The mill could be seen in a similar light, I think."
